Sow in the spring, and sprout and grow in the passage of time
Release date:2026-03-21

As the spring sunshine gradually shines evenly on both the northern and southern hemispheres, a lesson about life and growth is quietly unfolding in the family vegetable garden of Huixiao.

This is not just a simple task of planting seeds in the soil, but also a closed-loop journey of growth from "sowing" to "sprouting". We sow the seeds of truth in the soil and plant the desire for knowledge in our hearts, then quietly wait, watching them grow inch by inch over the years.

Seed: The Journey of a Seed

The learning journey begins with a driving question: "How does a seed grow?" From this, children embark on a complete learning journey that combines conjecture, inquiry, and empirical evidence.

The children first transformed into little investigators, turning their attention to the soil that they are most familiar with yet also the most unfamiliar. They browsed through plant identification guides in the library, observed the soil with magnifying glasses, and even interviewed their elders at home to learn about sowing experiences. Then, based on the collected information, the children began to discuss and formulate a planting plan, clarifying the division of labor. What should be planted in the field? Peppers? Coriander? Green onions? Tomatoes... a wide variety of vegetable seeds.

Next came intense discussions and rigorous plan formulation. They began to explore the nutritional value of each type of fruit and vegetable, the growth cycle of plants, seed selection, fertilization, and the division of labor for maintenance. Ultimately, the clan members arrived at the "Seed Bank" with a collective decision, purchasing the family's share of life codes. This is not only the beginning of labor, but also a comprehensive test of observation, analysis, and collaboration skills.

Jointing stage: visible growth

"Plant the seeds gently, cover the soil evenly, and the optimal depth is 3-5 centimeters." - Knowledge from paper turns into real action through fingertip practice and soil interaction.

Look, the child who is usually restless is now holding his breath, intently creating a cozy home for the seeds; several clan members are kneeling on the ground, carefully measuring and discussing whether the row spacing is appropriate; the careless boy is now cautious when watering, afraid of hurting the seedlings; the child who failed in planting last time has taken the initiative to become a "little teacher" after successfully raising seedlings this time .. . Growth is never achieved overnight, but it is always visible in a moment of focus.

The joy of growth ripples through the vegetable field. These small breakthroughs, akin to bamboo shoots sprouting, are the visible upward force nurtured by patience and perseverance. It not only unfolds in the vegetable field but also extends to the classroom, as exemplified by the phrase "Teacher, I solved this problem using three methods." This represents the growth of thinking ability, which is also experiencing a similar "sprouting" phase.

Photosynthesis: The Growth Code in Soil

Education is a beautiful "photosynthesis" that takes place between sunlight, soil, and the soul. This spring, we saw children fulfilling their respective roles in the vegetable garden - some were dedicated to clearing weeds, some were responsible for measuring the row spacing, and some were in charge of watering......When the impatient brother scattered the seeds into a mess, the younger sister reminded him, "The seeds need to be arranged in order, not piled together!"

When the children gently lift the first seed they planted with their hands covered in mud, the wisdom of the 24 solar terms and the poem "Every grain is hard-won" complete a closed loop. They begin to truly understand that every meal is hard-won, backed by sunshine, rain, time, and countless days of careful care. The sentiment towards the growth of all things, the reverence for the laws of nature, and the gratitude for labor and food take root at this moment .. . ..

Flowering period: Every growth follows its own time sequence

In the campus in spring, the gardener is the most unhurried one. Because we know that some "seeds" sprout in three days, while others need to wait for the whole spring.

We do not pursue uniform blooming. The child who cannot sit still in the classroom is now patiently building a trellis for the bean sprouts; the girl quietly reading in the reading corner meticulously records the growth of seeds in her observation journal; the student unleashing creativity in the art room fills the plant world in his or her brush with vigorous imagination .. . Each child is like a unique seed. We should let the flower bloom splendidly and let the tree grow robustly.

This spring day, the children at Hui are very "busy". They are busy planting seeds in the family vegetable garden, busy observing and recording the growth spurt, and busy experiencing symbiosis amid the fragrance of the soil. Those muddy little hands, sweat beads on their foreheads, and the naive yet sincere handwriting on the planting manual are all the best proof.

When the wind of the vernal equinox blows through the vegetable garden, we know that all the time spent taking root is to accumulate the strength for upward growth. At Huixiao, every one of you who sows diligently and grows vigorously in the spring is worth being noticed.
